Strikers 1945 grants the player 6 planes.
Lockheed P-38 Lightning[]
Overview[]
The American Lockheed P-38 Lightning was a presence in every major Theater of Operations in WWII. It was made famous in the Pacific Theater of Operations, especially during the Battle of Midway (the setting of Capcom's shooter 1943, in which you also pilot a P-38).
In Strikers 1945, the P-38 is a balanced fighter. It is equipped with homing missiles that can track even enemies from behind it. Its bomb has it do a loop while throwing a large nuclear bomb that creates a massive blast upon impact, clearing enemies and bullets within its vicinity. Its Parallel Formation special has a charge speed of 6/6 and consists of the small wingmen firing in parallel lines while staying in place on the screen.
North American P-51 Mustang[]
Overview[]
The North American P-51 Mustang has both American and British origins. It was designed by Americans to a British specification, and only reaching its full potential when fitted with a British engine. It was a huge presence in the battle against the Axis powers during WWII. For information about the actual P-51 Mustang, visit the P-51 page at MustangsMustangs.com.
In Strikers 1945, the P-51 is one of the slowest fighters in the game, but its weaponry more than compensates for it. Its sub weapon has its wingmen rapid fire thin missiles in a straight line that can do extra explosion damage upon impact. Its bomb is a B-29 Superfortress supportive carpet bombing that does little damage (i.e. only effective for destroying small enemies) for being able to clear bullets on screen. Its Shield Formation special has a charge speed of 1/6 and consists of the small wingmen moving slowly up the screen while also circling each other to provide a moving force field.
Supermarine Spitfire Mk. VII[]
Overview[]
The British Supermarine Spitfire is an all-purpose fighter craft that served during combat during WWII in the Royal Navy. The Spitfire page @ Aviation History Online Museum contains many technical specs about this aircraft.
In Strikers 1945, the Spitfire is an all-around fighter despite being quite slow. Its sub weapon has its wingmen planes fire heat missiles that can penetrate through even the thickest of enemy vehicle armors. Its bomb attack, the Fire Blade, summons a beam of fire that clears enemies and bullets in its range. Its Wide Formation special has a charge speed of 5/6 and consists of the small wingmen moving in sync with the Spitfire while providing diagonal cover fire from up front.
Messerschmitt Bf-109[]
Overview[]
The German Luftwaffe's Messerschmitt Bf 109 was a staple during the first three years of WWII. You can read more about the Bf 109 on Aviation History Online.
In Strikers 1945, the Bf109 has a fully invincible bomb attack, the Stuka Swoop Bomber Formation. It summons a fleet of Stuka dive bombers to bombard any enemy on-screen while dealing severe damage to bosses, while the BF109 loops like the P-38 to protect itself. The only downside to its weaponry is that the main shot is very narrow, but the Automatic Gunner sub weapon compensates for this by clearing enemies that the main shot cannot reach, increasing its spread. Its Drill Formation special has a charge speed of 3/6 and consists of the small wingmen moving forward while spiraling around in the same X-axis.
Mitsubishi A6M Zero[]
Overview[]
This is a class of Japanese WWII carrier-based fighter craft. You can see a swarm of these aircraft attacking Pearl Harbor in the 2001 movie of the same name.
Its Allied nickname during World War II was "Zeke".
In Strikers 1945, the Zero Fighter has a fully invincible bomb attack, the God Wind. It summons a storm which erases all incoming bullets and deals light damage to everything on-screen while it lasts. The only downside to its weaponry is that the small grenades need to be thrown from close range to increase its effectiveness. Its Hunter Formation special has a charge speed of 4/6 and consists of the small wingmen moving forward while searching for any remaining enemies on screen.
Kyushu J7W Shinden[]
Overview[]
It is hard to find historical information about the Japanese Kyushu Shinden J7. This fighter has a unique "tail-front, rear wing" design. It looks as if the plane is flying backwards.
In Strikers 1945, the Shinden J7 has the most powerful bomb attack, the Samurai Sword. It generates and throws a plasma copy of itself forward. This attack can destroy any enemy and even half-dead bosses instantly! Its only downside is that it covers an extremely small area, clearing only the bullets in front of the Shinden. Its Assault Formation special has a charge speed of 2/6 and consists of the small wingmen moving slowly up the screen and shooting rapidly to the sides.
